3 easy tips for improving your yoga shots:
1. Get low.
Shooting down on a subject evokes a feeling of looking down on the subject. Shooting on their level or looking up at them conveys a sense of reverence.
2. Fill the frame with your subject.
The smaller your subject appears in the frame, the less connected the viewer will feel to them.
3. Consider your background.
Simple is usually best. Sometimes you want to tell a story with a background. Those are fun images too. But if your story is your subject, choose a simple background that doesn’t distract from your subject.
Oh, and a bonus tip! If you’re considering hiring a professional photographer, make sure they understand what they’re shooting. For example, a yoga photography session yields great results when the photographer is also an experienced yoga teacher. They’ll see the little things that are important to yoga professionals that might go unnoticed by the layperson. Straighten a leg here, roll a shoulder back there, etc.
Wouldn’t you know, I happen to have just such a photographer to refer you to if you’re in the market! Pop on over to my contact page here or follow the link below to my facebook page and check out my work to book a session or just for a little creative inspiration.
